Ryan is eighteen years old and a lifelong resident of Colonia. He lives with his parents, Carol and Marty. Ryan ranks at the top of the Colonia High School Class of 2008 and will begin college in the fall of 2008.
In March of 2006, Ryan attained the rank of Eagle Scout through his Boy Scout Troop #143 in Woodbridge, and in 2007 earned a Bronze Eagle Scout Palm Award for continuing achievement. Ryan currently serves as Assistant Scoutmaster of his Troop.
Ryan is serving as the Drum Major for the Colonia High School Marching Band during the 2007-08 school years (his senior year in High School). This is Ryan’s eighth consecutive year as a member of the marching band. In addition, Ryan is a proud member of the Colonia High School Jazz Band, Concert Choir, Show Choir, Men’s Choir, and Mixed Chorus. He plays several instruments including piano, saxophone, trumpet, and guitar, and looks to continue to develop his musical talents in college. Aside from music, Ryan is a member of the high school Interact Club (community service club), the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Commission, Juggernauts (academic competition team), New Jersey Math League, Peer Tutoring, Ski Club, and United Synagogue Youth. Ryan has played on the Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team for three years, and is the Promotion Coordinator for the Woodbridge Township Election Day Food Drive program.
In 2006, Ryan earned the Mayor’s Youth Volunteer Award for community service and was named Greater Media Newspapers’ “Future Leader.” Ryan has recently been recognized as an Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar for academic excellence. Ryan is excited to be a new member of the Woodbridge CERT team, and sees it as a new, challenging, and exciting opportunity to continue serving others and the community, and become better prepared for any situation.
Ryan aspires to one day become a medical doctor and volunteer his services in communities where people cannot afford adequate medical care.
